The Derby Lodge Brewers Fayre is situated just off the M62 at junction 5 making it very handy for travellers around the Liverpool region, with easy access to both Liverpool, Manchester and the M6. Exiting from the M62 at J5, take the A5080 towards Bowring Park and Roby railway station. The restaurant is on the right.

We stayed here for one night yesterday and found the hotel excellent - very clean and the staff were very friendly. We ate in the restaurant twice - our evening meal was OK: I had the fish pie and ordered a side of fries - I'm glad as the pie came in a small pie dish with just the normal plate filling peas on the side and a few sliced carrots; it was however very tasty. My partner had the ribs and goujon combo which unfortunately we had to send back as the ribs were stone cold (I mean fridge cold) but the second offering came back piping hot and was very nice. We ate again for breakfast and by breakfast standard it was OK - again the staff were very friendly but the food is at best average. - Dave Williams

I have visited the Derby Lodge on several occasions, including Christmas Day last year with my children and grandchildren. Every time we have visited we have been made very welcome, the children have been made a fuss of. The food is good and always hot when it is brought to us. There is a large area outside where the children can run around. It has just been a good experience every time we have visited. - linda cain

We've been eating, twice annually, at the Derby Lodge for a number of years and have been generally satisfied with food and service although on this last occasion Thursday 10th Nov we were very disappointed. There were 6 of us dining, one had fish and chips which he enjoyed, another had sausages and mash which was not at all hot, another had fish pie which was somewhat lacking in fish with no vegetables and for some reason served with 2 pieces of sliced bread, another had dried up veg lasagne with a limp in fact warm lettuce leaf, I had dried up beef lasagne again with a limp lettuce leaf and one small segment of tomato. The final dish was duck which again was dried up and served with scant vegetables and there must have been at least 12 new potatoes. All 5 puddings were fine. We did not complain at the time for fear of ruining the family occasion. We shall think twice before dning at the lodge again unless you can guarantee a better meal when we return to Liverpool in February 2012. Regards, John - john hine
